The great presentations of the exceptional sculptor Dana Meyer at our Sculpture Square during past editions of "art KARLSRUHE" are remembered by many visitors.
The artist's sculptures are characterised by high tension, powerful dynamics and anatomical precision. They depict animals and people, individually, in groups, sometimes in fragments. Meyer's works are realistic and expressive, forceful in their message, sometimes metaphorical in effect, sometimes portrait-like.
Dana Meyer (*1982) studied sculpture at the Burg Giebichenstein Halle Art Academy, where she earned her diploma in 2011 and completed a master class until 2014. In 2011 she received the Saalesparkasse Art Prize, in 2012 scholarships from the Kloster Bergesche Foundation and the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation, in 2014 together with Undine Bandelin the Limburg City Art Prize, in 2015 the KSP Nordhausen Graphics Prize, in 2018 a scholarship from the state of Saxony-Anhalt and in 2019 the Alexander Tutsek Foundation Award for the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle (USA).
