Yorkshire (1898) – Herdfortshire (1986)
Herny Moore was an English artist. He is best known for his semi-abstract monumental bronze sculptures which are located around the world as public works of art.
As well as sculpture, Moore produced many drawings along with other graphic works on paper.
His forms are usually abstractions of the human figure, typically depicting mother-and-child or reclining figures. His forms are generally pierced or contain hollow spaces. Many interpreters liken the undulating form of his reclining figures to the landscape and hills of his Yorkshire birthplace.
Moore became well known through his carved marble and larger-scale abstract cast bronze sculptures, and was instrumental in introducing a particular form of modernism into the United Kingdom.
His ability in later life to fulfil large-scale commissions made him exceptionally wealthy. Despite this, he lived frugally; most of the money he earned went towards endowing the Henry Moore Foundation, which continues to support education and promotion of the arts.

Huesca (1930) – Cuenca (1998)
Renowned Spanish artist, he was one of the creators of the group EL PASO, and one of the biggest names to emerge in post-war Spain.
Self-taught, he began painting at the age of 15 during his convalescence after a long illness.
In 1953 he goes to Paris, where he seeks his own artistic path through surrealism. He soon realized that the logical way out of surrealism’ spontaneous creations was aformalism, whose movement he actively militated in 1957 together with Millares, Feito and Canogar, founding the EL PASO group.
His style is defined as monochrome, using only black, or almost monochrome, introducing browns and grays. Fleeing from formal abstraction, Saura became a powerful expressionist, despising traditional forms of representation.
Saura is internationally recognized and his works are found in the most important collections around the world.  

Rafael Canogar (Toledo, 1935)

Painter, sculptor and engraver.
From 1948 he attended the workshop of the painter Daniel Vázquez Díaz, and the drawing classes of the Círculo de Bellas Artes. In 1954 he held his first individual exhibition in the Altamira room, where he came into contact with the critic and poet Manolo Conde. In 1955 he began his abstract stage, met Feito and exhibited at the Arnaud gallery in Paris and at the Fernando Fe gallery in Madrid, also participating in the Hispano-American Biennial in Barcelona. The following year, he traveled to Italy with Manolo Conde and exhibited in Florence, being invited to the Alexandria and Venice Biennales. In 1957 he joins other painters forming the group "El Paso" with which he exhibits at the Buchholz gallery in Madrid. During those years, he repeatedly exhibited in Italy, France, Germany, the United States and Belgium, where he was awarded the Critics' Prize. After exhibiting at the Biosca gallery in Madrid in 1964, he abandoned Informalism and began to work with themes taken from the media, within an aesthetic that was not alien to pop art. Starting in 1967, this trend drifted towards a painting of social denunciation in three dimensions. In 1975 he delves into some chromatic formulas where the geometric reaches special significance. In 1971 he obtained the "Grand Prize" at the São Paulo Biennial and ten years later he was awarded the Grand Prize at the Sofia International Triennial of Painting, in addition to the National Prize for Plastic Arts. In 1985 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of France.

Eduardo Chillida (1924-2002)

Eduardo Chillida was born on January 10, 1924 in San Sebastian. In 1943 he moved to Madrid to study architecture, however in 1947 he decided to abandon this career and started drawing at the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts. The following year, he traveled to Paris where he began sculpture. In 1951 he settles in Hernani where he discovers iron, and makes his first work with this material. Three years later, his first individual exhibition takes place in Madrid at the Clan Gallery and he deals with public works with the doors of the Basilica d'Aranzazu. His work is present in collections of more than 20 museums around the world and has been exhibited in cities such as Berlin, London or New York. In September 2000, the Chillida-Leku Museum was inaugurated, a monographic space near San Sebastian. For the sculptor it was a dream come true. It is the place where his works rest, in constant dialogue with nature.

Barcelona, 1913 - Saint-Tropez (France), 2005

Spanish painter and engraver. Although initially his work is based on an intimate figuration in the line of Bonnard and Vuillard, where the result of his work is progressively outlined, his practice is a constant experimentation with the subject and artistic techniques. Since the sixties, his interests lean mainly in textures. He experiments with various procedures, such as painting on tapestry, lead sculptures, reliefs and assemblies with ropes, wood and scrap materials.

Benevento (1948) Italian painter.

In the 80’s he joins the transvanguardia, a movement that participates in the general trend of the return to painting, adopting a figurative allegorical style derived from Christian and classical imagery in combination with the style of European avant-garde.

Sadistic, dramatic or mortuary references emerge in his paintings; pieces full of strange animals, skulls and dislocated bodies that find their main model in wooden sculptures of popular tradition.

Valencia (1922) – (2004)

Established Spanish sculptor and graphic artist whose work reflects constructivist tendencies; geometry, architectonic strength and rigor.
Between 1958 and 1960, Gabino worked in Germany, where he left figurative work behind him. From 1961 his work developed its now characteristic constructivist aspects; his graphic work incorporated collage and sculptures included burnished, gold and silver colored metals overlayed and cut in concentric circles.

Jean-Émile Laboureur painter, printmaker, designer and illustrator, was born in Nantes, France in 1877.
He was best known for his woodcuts and etchings of daily life.
He went to Paris in 1895 to study law but dropped out and enrolled at the Académie Julian. The artista Auguste Lepère taught him wood engraving, while Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec trained him in etching and lithography.
Though Laboureur was initially inspired by Lautrec and the Primitivism of Paul Gaugin, he is considered to be the first printmaker to be strongly influenced Cubism. Today, Laboureur’s works are held in the collections of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nantes, and the Art Institute in Chicago, among others.

Barcelona (1923) – (2012)
He is one of the most representative artists of European abstract expressionism.
Tàpies started as a surrealist painter, his early works were influenced by Paul Klee and Joan Miró; but soon became an abstract expressionist, working in a style known as "Arte Povera". In 1953 he began working in mixed media; he added clay and marble dust to his paint and used waste paper, string, and rags.
From about 1970 (influenced by Pop art) he began incorporating more substantial objets into his paintings, such as parts of furniture.

Susana Solano (Barcelona, 1946) is a leading protagonist in the renewal of Spanish sculpture in the Eighties and internationally acknowledged (Kasel documentary, 1987 and 1992 Venice Biennale 1988)
Through her career, Solano has created a detailed discourse on limit - using emptiness rituals -not with the intention of creating interruptions in space, but to physically and symbolically appropriate it, as well as personal memory, perception, her emotions and the action of her body in space and time.

Spanish painter, engraver and sculptor. In 1964 with Juan Antonio Toledo, he founded the Equipo Crónica, a movement within the aesthetics of pop art that is characterized by the ironic appropriation of images of works of art that they recreate and to which they endow a notable political and social charge against the prevailing Franco regime. The activity of the group extends until 1981, date in which the death of Rafael Solbes takes place. From that moment on, he began his solo career, at first following the previous postulates, but due to his creative restlessness, little by little, he formed an artistic language with a great personality. In 1982-1983 he began to practice sculpture in wood. In 1983 he was awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts.

Hungary (1908) – Paris (1997)

He first studies medicine and entered the academy Mühely in Budapest to learn graphics art and advertising.

Vasarely exhibited for the first time at the Galerie Denise Rene in 1944, from that time, the artist gradually abandons its advertising business to devote more fully to painting, looking at works by Malevich, Delaunay, or Mondrian Arp. The painting of Vasarely is still at this time figurative, it was only a decade later that the artist moves to geometrical works, associations of images, optical illusions that we know today. Vasarely created even in 1970 the foundation Vasarely in the Vaucluse, originally designed to preserve, protect and promote his work.

Hamburg (1901) - New York (1978)

During 1927 and 1928 Lindner lived in Berlin, where he witnessed the development of the Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity), a movement that left an indelible mark on all his subsequent paintings.

In 1941 Lindner emigrated to the United States and settled in New York, where he began to contribute illustrations to the magazines Fortune, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar and soon became the most fashionable graphic designer. The free and cosmopolitan lifestyle of the legendary American city awakened his artistic talent and the subjects of his paintings — gangsters, prostitutes or people from the theatre, circus or music hall — were inspired by the underworld around Times Square or taken from American mass culture. At a time when Abstract Expressionism was all the rage, Lindner’s painting went against the current and always kept its distance. His pictorial language of vibrant colours and broad planes of colour and his urban themes make him a forerunner of American Pop Art. At the same time, he owes the critical tone of his paintings to the influence of European art movements such as Neue Sachlichkeit and Dada.
