Dorine van der Ploeg

Dorine van der Ploeg is primarily a mixed media artist… yet she remains an interdisciplinary artist in the sense that her collages still employ a diverse range of mediums. While she was trained at the Wackers Academy in the realist style, Dorine now takes an abstract approach and plays freely with her subjects, aesthetics, and techniques.

Dorine’s work results from constant observation of her immediate surroundings. With a pair of scissors and a bag of painted sheets of paper, she enters a landscape and allows herself to observe the light, the colours, the nature, and its depth. She trained her eye to look at a real environment and see how forms and colours come together in abstract representations, which she then expresses through her collages.

In the recent time, her inspiration in terms of subject matter has been in her immediate surrounding, found in the ‘abandoned’ swimming pool in the backyard of her grandmother’s house and the trees in the forest close to her house. In these collages, the pool and the trees constantly re-appear in different spectacles that are playful in terms of how forms and colours present themselves visually.

Dorine is a Dutch artist, and she lives in Maastricht, NL.
Van der Ploeg is represented by Galerie PontArte (Maastricht). She has had exhibitions in Amsterdam, Maastricht, Wiesbaden (Germany) and in Genoa (Italy). In 2024, her work will be shown in Geel (Belgium) and in Rottenburg (Germany), among others. In addition, her work can be found at fairs such as Art The Hague and Art Karlsruhe.

Ana Garcia

Artist with a figurative style and various accents of realism, her works are mainly paintings and drawings.

At 16 years old she discovered Antonio López, the artist who was the spark that helped her find out what she wanted to dedicate her life to. Since then, Antonio López is the artist that influenced her the most, through his works, his way of working and his ideas on art. For several years she was selected to participate in Antonio Lopéz’s master class. For Ana, getting to know him has been an inestimable learning experience.

Ana finds inspiration in the objects and landscapes she is surrounded by, be they interior or exterior, and the decision to paint them is a process more thought out than spontaneous.
Her first public exhibition was during her first year of university, in 2000, when she gathered in the Community Center of her village some of her first works of art.
